Alba Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Our tour commences at the Virgin Hotel, Edinburgh, 9.30am.  From here, we travel north across the Forth with spectacular views of the famous Forth Rail Bridge, towards the Kingdom of Fife and the charming fishing villages along the coast.  Our stop is in historic St Andrews where you can wander the cobbled streets and pose for an iconic photograph at the 18th hole of the famous Old Course.  We then head further north towards the county of Perthshire and our stay for the next 2 nights.    This evening you will join fellow tour guests for dinner and drinks.

Day 2: Today we head Northeast through Braemar and stop in at Balmoral Castle depending on Royal Family movements. If this is not possible, we will have a lovely stop in Braemar with time for a coffee and wander. We then continue onwards through the majestic Cairngorm Mountain range with stunning scenery at every turn.We arrive at the Strathspey Railway for a journey complete with afternoon tea. The route back to the hotel takes us down the West of the Cairngorms, passing through picturesque towns.

Day 3: The journey today takes us towards the West of the country and to Glenfinnan.  Travel along the shores of Loch Laggan with some of the most stunning scenery Scotland has to offer.  Our stops before checking in at the hotel will be Neptune’s Staircase, which is the longest staircase lock in Britain for barges, and then Glenfinnan Viaduct, where the Harry Potter train journey was filmed.   Enjoy a relaxing meal in the hotel tonight.

Day 4: Today we start with a visit to Loch Ness, where you will learn about the Loch Ness Monster and enjoy a cruise on the famous Loch from Fort Augustus. Continuing our day, we travel to the Nevis Range Mountain Gondola, where we climb aboard this scenic ride and take in the stunning views of Aonach Mór Mountain.  On the way back to the hotel, we stop at the Commando Memorial, a memorial dedicated to the commanders who died in WWII, and providing photo opportunities of the Lochaber region, previously their training ground.  Tonight, you can look forward to a welcoming meal in the hotel to finish the day off.

Day 5: We travel South today, through Glencoe, an area of outstanding natural beauty.  Glencoe is known for its haunting past as well as its wild beauty. The infamous massacre that took place here in 1692 is a tragic and poignant chapter in Scottish history, and a key moment in the story of the Jacobites.  Learn about this in the Glencoe Visitor Centre, where we will have a stop prior to continuing to Glasgow.  On arrival in Glasgow, you will have time to explore this vibrant city at leisure, or enjoy the Luxury comforts of the Hotel Du Vin.

Day 6: Today brings a visit to one of the Lowland Whisky Distilleries where you can enjoy a tasting.  Afterward we travel through the spectacular scenery of Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park with its wooded glens, braes, and lochs.  The evening is yours to further explore what Glasow has to offer

Day 7: Today after breakfast, your tour is completed.  Whether you require assistance to the airport or wish to continue your travels in Glasgow or beyond, we can help with arrangements, please just ask and our team will be happy to help.
